Hey there! Just wanted to let you know that I've released a new video on YouTube based on my article "The Fall of Rakuten: How Japan's E-commerce Titan Got to the Brink of Disaster":
It provides deep insights and visuals to explain the challenges the company faced and faces. Whether you're interested in business, Japan, or just a good story, I hope you'll check it out and share your thoughts!
Amazon is definitely a strong competitor to Rakuten, especially in logistics where Rakuten is severely struggling with keeping costs down (as discussed in the article). With that said, Rakuten's e-commerce division is still showing healthy profits and the boost it got during Covid has likely made it even more of a household name in Japan. If Rakuten was still solely an E-commerce company, I think its stock would have a much higher valuation.
Thanks once again for throwing a spotlight on the problems that Rakuten faces. How has Rakuten been affected by the competitive tactics of Amazon?
Thank you for the comment!
