My journey to Mongolia: An infant democracy wedged between giants, where K-pop blasts from crumbling Soviet blocks and dusty Toyotas glide across surreal dunes and endless steppes
Good overall, but you still include biased/opinionated propaganda for anything relating to China & Russia. Any reason why?
Neither China nor Russia have any desire to invade Mongolia like you imply multiple times. Republics are generally better than democracies, both China and Russia are both authoritative republics. They have many more freedoms and opportunities compared to Japan and South Korea. The only issue with authoritative republics is not being able to speak out against the gov publicly. There is a reason why both Russia and China have much larger and growing economies compared to Japan & South Korea. Western and western aligned countries are incredibly bureaucratic with any type of business or investment plans and actions, like Japan, South Korea, Philippines, etc.
Like I said, good overall. But try leaving out the subtle propaganda stuff about “China/Russia bad”
Thank you. Great article!
I lined to your post in my Monday links roundup: https://emergingmarketskeptic.substack.com/p/emerging-markets-week-may-12-2025
I know there are or were some more mining companies active in Mongolia - my stock index https://emergingmarketskeptic.substack.com/p/south-asia-india-and-central-asia-stock-index#%C2%A7mongolia only has 2 Mongolian stocks so far:
🇲🇳 Mongolian Mining Corp (HKG: 0975 / FRA: 29X2 / OTCMKTS: MOGLF) - Coking coal. 🇼
🇲🇳 Premium Nexus Jsc (MSE: CUMN) - Convenience store operator. Korea’s CU owned by BGF Retail (KRX: 282330). 🇼
