Duskin is the weirdest company I’ve seen in a long time. The name is a mashup of the English “Dust” and the Japanese word for cleaning cloth, “zokin,” which tells you everything about where this company started, and yet nothing why its biggest business is Japan’s most beloved donut chain.
A company that prides themselves of renting out chemical floor mops and while Pon de Ring donuts (my favorite donut in the whole world by the way) under one ticker genuinely broke my brain.
So I did what I always do: I ran the numbers to see whether this weird concuction is a buying opportunity or a value trap.
